09/05/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta9 is available with its source code. This version fixes a lot of bugs contained into the previous versions.

06/26/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta8 is available with its source code. This version allows you to use MP3 and DivX Audio compression for video capture under Win9x. It also adds two new deinterlace filters, and the ablility to shut down the computer automatically when a program finishes.

05/23/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta7 is available with its source code. It fixes a bug into the correction of the 1h11m35s bug. It adds the ability to crop video and to filter luma.

05/10/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta6 is available with its source code. This version would allow to walk around the 1h11m35s bug which could be found into some capture drivers (like those of pinnacle miroPCTV for example). The capture would continue beyond this limit (tell me if it does not work). I also added a camera function to do some photos in the .bmp format with only one mouse click per shots.

03/25/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta5 is available in french and english. FreeVCR is now under the GNU GPL license terms (it is free and the source code is available). This version adds essentially the ability to schedule the start of the recording.

01/22/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta4 is available in french and english. this version fixes a bug happening when a capture is tried at exotic frame rates (like 15 fps). The filtering now works with UYVY.

01/10/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta3 is available in french and english. This version adds a popup menu on the capture window that can be very useful.

01/03/2001 : freeVCR1.2beta2 is available in french and english. This version fixes some bugs in TV mode (i do not add optimizations yet), and adds cpu usage and byte rate into the statistics.

12/15/2000 : freeVCR1.2beta1 is available in french and english. This version allows, during a capture into several files, to number the files starting from the number where the previous capture was stopped. There is now a TV function with filtering. This function is very slow because it is not optimized for DirectX and MMX.

12/01/2000 : The version i have uploaded yesterday have still a bug that occurs when user tries to do a second capture. It's fixed now.

11/30/2000 : freeVCR1.1 is available in french and english. User can choose between 3 methods for video deinterlacing. I also fixed some bugs, and removed some floatting point calculations.

11/16/2000 : freeVCR1.1beta3 is available in french and english. This version allows user to filter frames after decompression, and to compress the sound.

11/16/2000 : freeVCR1.1beta2 is available in french and english. It fixes a bug when there is no sound to record or when user doesn't want the sound and video to be synchronized. It adds a filter for deinterlacing PAL/SECAM video (very fast).

11/14/2000 : freeVCR1.1beta1 is available in french and english. The video and sound synchronization has been totaly rewritten. Instead of resampling sound, this version adjust the video clock on the audio clock.

11/02/2000 : freeVCR1.0 is available in french and english. This version integrates the filter "Chroma Noise Reduction" i developped for VirtualDub. It works with YUY2, VYUY, UYNV and V422 video modes. It will probably support YV12 mode in the future. The filter allows user to filter video in real time since it works directly with YUV, which prevents from converting video from RGB to YUV, and vice versa.

10/27/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta9 is available in french and english. This version modifies the settings file format in order to support the FourCC "faking". There will not have a beta10 version ! The next version will be the 1.0 official version.

25/10/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta8 is available in french and in english. This version allows user to "fake" the fourCC. It is designed to force some codecs to use synonymouse FourCCs (for example YUY2, YUNV, V422 and VYUY are same formats, but YUY2 is the most famous).

10/19/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta7 is available in french and in english. This version give the ability to have full screen video.

10/18/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta6 is available in french and in english. There is no new functions added but simply some bugs fixed.

10/11/2000 : The documentation of freeVCR is available. It is in french and explain how to use the 1.0beta5 french version.

10/10/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta5 is available in french and english. There is no new functions added regarding the beta4 version, but only all which is necessary to easily adapt the program to other languages.

10/09/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta4 is available. The stop button has been added to stop the recording (the ESC key could also be used to do that).

10/06/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta3 is available. The news are some customized video formats and the saving of the settings (if a problem happened a the start, delete the file freeVCR.set)

10/03/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta2 is available. it fixes a stupid bug in the sound (some click could be heared sometimes).

10/02/2000 : freeVCR1.0beta is available. This version fixes several bugs and adds the ability to decompress video coming from video card before doing some compression with some installed codecs. This would allow users which own a MJPEG video capture card (DC10+, DC30, Marvel G400, etc...) to do divX capture in real time, but also users which own video capture card that does not support YUV 4:2:2 modes to uses some codecs which only support RGB data in input (Indeo for example). File space could be preallocated now.

09/26/2000 : You want to record more than 2 GB of video in one time with a video and sound perfectly synchronized : freeVCR 1.0alfa is perhaps the solution to your problems. This is only an alfa version, so it is supposed to have a lot of bugs. The program has been tested with PICVideo MJPEG 2.0 Codec and divX 3.11alfa codec. The files generated are viewable by Windows Media Player 6.4 et VirtualDub 1.4b. You can join them without any problem using VirtualDub : cool !

09/04/2000 : The 1.1 version of the Chroma Noise Reduction filter is available. It fixes the shift between chroma and luma.

08/31/2000 : I found some bugs in the 1.0 version of the filter "Chroma Noise Reduction" for VirtualDub. The 1.0a version fixes these bugs and is available here
